Chapter 6 Note taking.. Oh how I despise you
Yeah, Note taking is good and helpful. The chapter goes over how to record notes and what we can use. Eh, to be a good student you have to be able to take notes. With our notes on the what we have used as bibliography for our paper. Notes on note taking is kinda annoying.
Chapter 3 Heads up for the road ahead...
Chapter 3 is about the research proposal that is due in 2 weeks but i believe us reading this chapter now was to prepare us for what is going to be done and let it start processing it in our minds. It helps us better narrow down our topic. For the proposal we must develop a research question for example What are the effects of oil production on the environment then we are the take the questions and our own writing styles to make the question better. Although our modern world runs on oil and its production we cannot condone its use that it doesn't have its downsides, The affects on the environment alone in which it was created are more than enough to want to change it but what are all those effects. Then we are to take the question and form it into a presentation that will guide for the main paper.
And the door on the left is...
Choosing a topic was a rather difficult thing to do, I was torn between choosing something covering the topics of Globalization (which in my list there were 4 of them with globalization) or something to do with the middle east but as I read more into the book it says to read something that interests us maybe something in our career. Then something struck me and it was oil production and how it affects the environment. eh We were to choose our topics in class but I was ill so that is the choosing of my topic? Well it will be my job some day better to get over how bad it is before I am hopefully able to change it.
Chapter 4 Reading With STYLE
Chapter 4 Basically covers the SQ3R Method of reading which is to Ask questions into the text and read over the headings before you start reading then read several times questioning everything and their sources then review what was read. The chapter focuses on what should be read and why to read like this but from what i have done in my life questioning everything helps to understand more than what is right there.
Eval Of a Website
Website Chosen :http://chevrontoxico.com/about/environmental-impacts/
1. The domain is .com which is a business domain but it also the most common domain
2. ChevronToxico Environmental impact. Spreading the impact of the Oil Giant chevron on the environment
3. Caroline Bennett is the one who is the face on the website but it backed by amazon watch and Udapt organization that want to help the amazon forest. This is where I start to trust the site even tho these aren't big named organizations and the facts behind their research are well documented and given links to more documents and research
4 On the side of the site there is a list of recent posts and the last one dated 2 days ago
5 The sources used by this site and the site itself are good for the topic of oil production and the effect on the environment.
I would use this site as a way to find better documents and research of the affect on the environment but i cannot use the site itself because of the lack of people behind it and that it is kinda shady

Chapter 5 Eval of Sources
Chapter 5 Covers how we are to evaluate sources for our topics. We are to look at the relevance to our topic, such as does it really apply to our topic or does it go off in a different direction. Then look at the evidence on the sources and determine if they are reliable sources to use and to make sure they are based off facts and not accusations. The chapter covers about how we are to evaluate the viewpoint of the person who wrote the source and how it affected it. (Common practice in AP classes to learn about how the writer misleads the writing). Also how the publisher affects the document and be sure to look into them because they tend to have bias as well as the writing which I never thought of before. Finally the chapter talks about the differences between online and published sources and to be extra careful of online ones because they can be made to look professional.
Chapter 2 Exploration Of topics of writing
Chapter 2 helps to focus down a topic for paper and to help the writer get a better understanding of the topic as to be able to refute disclaimers about it and be able to go into dept of it. The chapter talks about how making a "Research Plan" to guide our learning of the topic proposed. Then it guides us over the processes to find articles and other documents to help further the learning of the topic. Also what sources are correct and okay to use. The chapter refers back to the list that we are to make in chapter 1 about the sources we use and to record them. Overall the chapter focuses on better selection of our topics and the narrowing down of them.
